About
My love of all animals began very early and was so strong, I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up! I lived for February's when I could spend two wonderful nights in front of the TV watching the Westminster Kennel Club's dog show. November was pretty special too because immediately following Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade came the Philadelphia Kennel Club's dog show! I never dreamed that someday I would be in the conformation ring exhibiting beautiful Collies and yet here I am!
I've had a Cocker Spaniel, a Golden Retriever and mixed breed rescues over the years, but it wasn't until I got my first Collie from Deep River Collies that I truly had found my heart breed. Deep River's Bru Maguire (Maggie) was quickly followed by Southland's Never Say Never (Logan). I exhibited in Obedience with Maggie, earning her BN (Beginner Novice) and CD (Companion Dog) titles easily and with all class placements (even several firsts!) . Maggie and Logan were both certified therapy dogs through Therapy Dogs International and loved going to libraries for Tail Waggin' Tutor hour or any other place therapy dogs were invited.
It wasn't until I met Rayleen Hendrix and purchased Apple Valley's Third Times A Charm (Trey) that I was encouraged to explore conformation and maybe, just maybe, look up someone named Hailey Stoner. "She lives in Atlanta; she can help you," said Rayleen. And just like that, I was hooked on dog shows! A large part of the "hook" was in fact meeting and becoming friends with Hailey Stoner, Avondale Collies. At the time we met, double digit years ago, we were both living in the metro Atlanta area. What are the odds you're going to fall in love with a breed and create a deep and lasting friendship and mentorship with a complete stranger who was living just 4 miles "door to door"?
Almost 15 years after acquiring my first Collie and being a student of the breed for the duration and beyond, I had my first litter in August, 2022 and Faireway Collies was born! None of which would have been possible without the support and guidance of Hailey and her beautiful dogs! Three puppies from this litter stayed with me and you can learn more about them on the Stud Dogs and Bitches pages.
